Use the given materials to create an appealing video on the effects of light refraction, the light spectrum and total reflection. The video should be about 10 seconds long and show the effects in an exciting way.
Use the following steps as a guide:
- Familiarise yourself with your materials and try out diffirent positionings of the light source (your mobile phone camera is a possible light source) and the prisms. What can you see at what angle?
- Take the wire and think about how you could connect the prisms together to arrange them in an exciting way.
- Where does the light have to come from while you are filming? How do you have to move?
- Now think about the steps of your video as a storyboard (see below). What needs to happen in what sequence?
- Record the video.
- Give it a title and justify your choice of title.
- Explain which of the effects you see in the video and when, based on the storyboard.
What is a Storyboard?
„A storyboard is a graphic representation of how your video will unfold, shot by shot. It’s made up of a number of squares with illustrations or pictures representing each shot, with notes about what’s going on in the scene and what’s being said in the script during that shot. Think of it as sort of a comic book version of your script.

A storyboard is your roadmap when you make a video. Like a script, your storyboard visually guides you throughout the production process. By planning your video, you know which shots you need to create and how to create them when filming begins. You can get others’ feedback early on and make simple adjustments to your storyboard, rather than making major changes while filming.“

What has to be part of your Storyboard?
- Setting of the camera and camera movements
- Short description of the action (e.g. movement of the light source).
- arrows indicating movements in the scene
- Numbering of the individual panels (scene 1,2,3,…)
Your portfolio must include

When your video is finished, in order to be exhibited, you will need some ‚exhibition material‘ to help the viewers understand your thoughts. You will create this material when you have finished the design assignment. More about this here:
